Minutes of the previous meeting

were read and agreed.

Governing Documents

Thanks to Mr W Smith for drawing up a new governing document. It was proposed that this was forwarded to the Charities Commission for adoption.

Proposed: Mr J Walsh, Seconded: Mr W Smith

Duties of Trustees

Mr F Anderson read from Charities Commission paperwork on the duties of trustees

Long term plan

Discussion concerning the reserves of the trust amounting to some six to ten thousand pounds as well as distribution of income. It was stated that the trust had been running for at least 400 years and that the reserve should be left alone for the future. Distributing the annual income should continue.

Hall marks of a well run charity

The charity commission's pamphlet on what constitutes a well run charity was read through and the meeting discussed what it meant for the trust.

Mrs J Edwards will be asked to audit the accounts.

Correspondence

Mr F Anderson had faxed through information to the Acle Medical surgery to highlight the trust's existance and its ability to assist the poor in the parish.

Mr F Anderson had written to John Waters who had agreed to continue to graze the marshes.

Mr F Anderson read a letter from Richard N Bailey in California USA who had written expressing an interest in buying the land at the Moonshine Hill Allotments. The trustees decided that it was not for sale and Mr F Anderson wrote back explaining this to Richard Bailey. This raised the difficulty in renting the Moonshine out as allotments as few people were prepared to rent them. The possibility of turning them into temporary grazing for horses was raised as having a better chance of obtaining rental for the trust. Mr W Smith was to investigate the change of use situtation legally.
